Scribblers

Scribblers art classes are so much fun!

In our very own children's art studio, we will draw, paint, cut, paste, thread, stamp, print, model with clay, and lots more. In a class you could see us flying, slithering or stomping, then painting, making a mask or threading beads onto a caterpillar.

This class is for children from 2 years of age, right up until 5 years of age (and not yet started school). When children turn 3.5 years, they also have the option of joining our Zoomers Art class.

Scribblers is part of an Australian-designed art program that introduces children to a wide range of materials, tools, and creative experiences.

Through stories, games, and imaginative role play, each term’s theme comes to life in a fun, interactive environment. Our sessions are thoughtfully designed to gently build skills over time, encouraging confidence through guided experimentation, creativity, and play.

All art classes at Flying Fox Studios run in 8 week terms, with a break over the school holidays between each term. Please find all our term dates listed here.

What to expect when attending a Scribblers class?

Typically young children are experiencing new things every day. They are learning to master skills of all kinds as they learn to "do it myself". A scribblers class is a mix of allowing space for children learn to complete tasks on their own, and keeping their adult close at hand should they need a bit of hands on assistance.

Scribblers classes include lots of art, craft, painting, stamping, drawing, sensory exploration, story telling, games, imagination, creativity and hands on fun.

Each week the class will begin with an exploration time, with a prop for students to touch and feel. This will set the scene for our lesson before we move to our 'messy' task at our art tables.  Paint, colour and mixing time! Following our wet and messy activity, we also include a story time and a craft exploration. Cutting, sticking, threading, stamping and plenty of craft to take home.

A Scribblers class gives a platform for meaningful language development and a conversation between the child and their adult. New words are learned and new experiences are had each and every week.

How many children in a Scribblers class?

Scribblers offers up to 8 regular spots in a class each term. Classes may also occasionally have up to 2 extra students attending as a make up lesson from another day.

Can I bring a younger sibling? We welcome siblings in all our classes at Flying Fox Studios in age groups that have adults attend with a child. Please keep in mind that our art classroom will have toddler accessible items such paints, glue, scissors etc that are out on a low table and accessible for students in class to access.

Children must meet the minimum age requirement before enrolling in a class at Flying Fox Studios. This is our standard policy across all classes, programs, and age groups. We will give a 4 week 'grace' period for children close to the cut off, however other than this we will not enrol children into out of age range classes. All children are required to be 2 years of age before enrolling or trailing in a Scribblers class.
