All About Zoomers The Pre-prep / Kindy year is a special time to grow and learn. Zoomers kids are becoming independent and ready to discover all about their world. The Zoomers curriculum follows the Scribblers themes, and includes stories, drama and games, but has additional elements suitable for the older Kindy student. Our Zoomers art program offers an early introduction to visual art techniques and experiences, in a fun and friendly environment. In a Zoomers class we explore an introduction to drawing, and the students will complete a short drawing exercise each lesson. Painting, drawing and observational skills are developed as motor skills mature. A Zoomers class could see us mixing colours or using a variety of tools for drawing and painting. We will add to our sketchbook each week as the term continues, and build a collection of work over the term. Zoomers students learn elementary skills in manipulating clay and plaster, and foundational printmaking techniques as well as a wide variety of other skills. How many students attend a Zoomers classes? In each Zoomers class we have a maximum of 8 students and one teacher. In this age group the students attend the lesson without their grown up in the room with them. If you are looking for a class to attend together with your child, then check out our Scribblers class for 2 to 5 years. How is a Zoomers class structured? In each lesson the students will complete a short drawing exercise, learning to illustrate the shape and form of what they see in front of them. We will then also complete a wide variety of activities, such as cutting, sticking, threading, colour mixing, stamping, rolling as well as sensory play (dark, light, soft, smooth, rough etc). What age is Zoomers for? Zoomers is designed for children who are between 3.5 and 6 years of age and not currently attending school. It is common for children who attend kindy to also have been eligible for Prep entry that same year. If your child is attending Kindy in 2023 and Prep in 2024 then Zoomers is the right class for them. They will be eligible for our school age classes, when they begin school. Children must meet the minimum age requirement before enrolling in a class at Flying Fox Studios. This is our standard policy across all classes, programs, and age groups. We will give a 4 week 'grace' period for children close to the cut off, however other than this we will not enrol children into out of age range classes. |
